About the Artist

Becky Carr

I have worked as a fashion graphics designer for 25 years. I decided to do some new portfolio work and ended up with enough designs to start Owaboo. The company is named after my family’s best dog Boo. Owaboo should be pronounced in ‘northern’ (I’m from the north east), so it's, Ow as in ouch, A as in ah and Boo as in scary.

I have been told my designs look retro. I think that’s probably because they are my versions of the sort of graphics I saw around me as a kid. It would be nice to think that future ‘kids’ might remember my designs in the same way….
